How to Get Rid of Old Clothes

I go through a lot of clothes. I change sizes and styles so often that I'm left with a full closet and nothing to wear. It's something I know every woman struggles with. Our clothing options suck. Sizes always vary from store to store. You can't trust anything online because it probably won't fit how it says it will. We also have trends popping up and leaving faster than a subway train. Our fashion industry is always changing.

I'm often left with old clothes that are basically brand new. Some of my clothes still have tags on them. Why do I buy them in the first place? Who knows. They pile up in my room in bags and boxes just to sit and collect dust. I donate some and trash others, but I'm wasting good money that way. Clothing can be expensive and I don't want to throw away brand new clothes.

That's why I'm thankful for Poshmark. Poshmark is an app that you can use to sell and buy used clothing. I love this app. So far I've sold 50 listings and made a total of $619. It helps clear out my closet and I earn some extra cash.

The app is so easy to use. Simply take photos of your items and list them. You choose the price! When someone purchases your listing, Poshmark sends you an email with a prepaid mailing label to print out. You throw the items in a box, slap that label on them and take it to a post office. Simple as can be. The only downside is that Poshmark takes a small fee from each sale. I believe it's a flat rate for sales under a certain amount and then 20% off rates above the amount. It's really not that bad when your old junk could just be sitting in your room taking up space.

Poshmark is also great for finding brand name items at cheap prices. I bought a pair of like-new Jack Rogers for $35. I've also bought all my Nike shorts on the app for $10 or less. Before I buy new clothes, I always check Poshmark first. Odds are I can get what I want cheaper on the app.

The best part is that there's no risk involved. If you mail something and a buyer doesn't accept it right away, they only have three days before payment is released to you. If they decline it, they have to send it back or else Poshmark releases their money. If you purchase something that's never delivered or isn't how it was described you can cancel your order and send it back. The full amount is always returned to you for purchases. They also make it easy to transfer money from the app into your bank account. You have to option for a check mailed to your door or a direct deposit into your account. I use the direct deposit option and it has never been an issue to get my money. Poshmark also just released a new way to pay. Now, you can use Apple Pay to check out. They make it extremely easy to buy and sell clothes through the app.

Another great feature is the wholesale market and the possibility for sales and marketing opportunities. The app allows people to buy bulk items from wholesalers and then they can list them on their own accounts. This is real retail. You can create a brand or a work with an existing one to sell on Poshmark for a living. Some people make six-figure incomes by selling retail items instead of used ones. I certainly would love to do this, but I have a long way to go before I make that much from something like that. The only downfall is that you have to be able to afford the wholesale bundles and after you buy them, it could take months to gain that money back. But if you have a disposable income, I suggest buying a few wholesale listings and waiting for money to come in. The bundles are priced with plenty of room for profits.

Poshmark is a huge blessing. Sell your old clothes on this app! If they still have some value in them you should list them right now. I let items sit in my virtual closet and even things I didn't expect to sell did. Lucky for you, members can give out their code to give you perks! My code: HVHGI is good for $5 off your first purchase. Just punch it in when you sign up for the app. Signing up and selling items is completely free. They will ask you to link a bank account so you can receive payments, though. Be sure to sign up and start clearing out your closet to make room for new items!
