Restaurant Files: Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom

My parents have been on a mission to try all of the new restaurants in Fayetteville. On this journey, they happened to visit the Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom. They were talking about this pizza nonstop for a whole week, so when it came time to pick a Father's Day dinner spot, this place rose to the top of the list.

We set out for our special dinner to celebrate my wonderful father. When we got there, we were immediately sat at a high top table near the front of the restaurant and the bar. The restaurant has plenty of space and a fun, bright atmosphere. The first thing you notice is the bar in the center of the restaurant with the brightly colored beer tap handles. They are currently doing an American Road tour, which means they're bringing in beers from all across the country.

When my parents came the first time, my mom had signed up for an app and rewards program. We were able to get not one, but two free appetizers because of her signing up. They have an awesome rewards program that allows you to get free food and some unique prizes, such as pint glasses, playing cards or t-shirts.

Our waiter came swiftly and was extremely cheerful. She helped us decided on appetizers because the whole menu sounded too good to choose. We ended up getting jalapeño pretzel bites and fried bacon mac and cheese bites. Stephan and I also ordered some beers from their extensive drink menu. I chose the Sierra Nevada Sidecar Orange Pale Ale and Stephan ended up with a stout called Dragon's Milk. Our appetizers came quickly and they looked amazing. Each was served with a side of beer cheese and the mac and cheese bites also came with a little Sriracha catsup. Both the appetizers and the beers were phenomenal.

I crafted my own pizza with pepperoni, andouille sausage, and green bell peppers on a Chicago thick crust. My father ordered a Chicago classic; Stephan ordered plain pepperoni pizza; My mom ordered a quesadilla with everything on it. When we saw our food coming, we all knew it was going to be a good meal.

This pizza was some of the best I've ever had. I loved the thick Chicago crust and the combination I ordered was perfect. I will say this probably isn't true Chicago style, but it's close enough for me. The food was tasty and my father was pleased, which is all we really cared about.

I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves pizza. But they also have a huge menu with burgers, pasta, and so much more (I almost ended up creating my own mac and cheese bowl!). This place definitely has something for everyone, which makes it a great stop for large groups with varying taste buds. I can't wait to go back and try a new beer and maybe that mac and cheese bowl.
