Snack Time: Jalapeño Cheese Crisps

I absolutely love cooking and trying new recipes. Life is much better when you can make what you want and not rely on a store to sell it. I've loved cooking ever since high school. My grandmother has always been the cook for our family, and as I've expressed my interest for cooking she has helped train me and teach me how to be a great cook. Everyone who has tasted her food knows I've been trained by the absolute best.

Being someone who avidly loves food and all things related to food (i.e. fancy kitchen gadgets), I am always on the hunt for new finds for my stomach. This week my mom and I were inspired, probably by hunger, to look for new recipes to try. She had saved one of those popular food videos on Facebook about jalapeño cheese crisps and couldn't wait to try them. After a quick trip to Walmart, we began the super easy process of baking us delicious, cheesy goodness.

The recipe calls for some shredded parmesan cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, sliced jalapeños, and crumbled bacon. That's it. Just four ingredients make up this delicious, 0 carb snack. We baked them for a short duration of 12 minutes and waited for them to cool.

Finally, after a few minutes they were ready to eat. My mom, my grandmother, and I all grabbed a crisp and took our first bite. The first thing you taste is the crunchy cheese that's been baked into a wonderfully crisp, almost cracker-like form. Slowly the bacon reaches your taste buds, and finally the mild heat of the jalapeño.

We were absolutely in love with our new snack. The recipe was so easy to follow. I spent about 10 minutes prepping everything for the crisps and they only bake for 12 minutes, bringing the grand total time to 22 minutes. This is a great option for a last minute snack fix.

Trying new recipes is something I hope to do more of in the future. There are so many combinations of ingredients out there waiting to be discovered, and I hope to find them all. This recipe is something I'll hold onto as well. I love to go back to my favorites and remake them. My chocolate cake certainly has been a favorite among friends and family for years now seeing that I'm forced to make it for every birthday and celebration.
