My Pure Barre Experience

Pure Barre is a company that offers workout classes through a membership with a studio. They recently opened a Pure Barre studio by my university and it has become very popular. I heard about Pure Barre when my sorority was competing in a competition to win free classes.

I decided to give Pure Barre a try. My roommate and I signed up for a class together before fall break. I heard a lot of good things about the classes and the type of workouts they taught. I was told to expect simple movements and a fast-paced class. As we walked into the studio, I saw a small store and a front desk before the opening of the actual studio. The store had high-end merchandise for working out and specialty clothing fit for a Pure Barre class. We signed in and were lead through the studio into the equipment area to pick up something called tubes, a small rubber ball, and little 5lb weights. My roommate and I picked a spot on the floor, sat down, and waited for the class to start.

The class began almost instantly. Music exploded through the speakers and the instructors voice began explaining what to do. It was overwhelming at first because I expected some type of introduction to the class and a slower pace. Despite this rough start, I quickly adjusted to the class. The movements were easy to figure out and easy to do. Pure Barre focuses on using little movements to target specific muscles and the entire body at the same time.

I was quite tired at the end, but I always love the feeling I get after an intense workout. My overall experience with this first class was very positive. I enjoyed the small movements because we switched positions so much that I couldn't even think about how tired I was until it was over. The instructor was encouraging us all throughout the workout to push ourselves to the max. I didn't feel like an outsider in this class either. Usually, when I take a group class I feel judged by all the members who have been there before and even the instructor. Some instructors get frustrated with new members who mess up, but at Pure Barre the instructor was so helpful and extremely welcoming. It's probably the first time I've done a group class and felt good about doing it.

I hope to continue taking Pure Barre classes in the future. It's pretty expensive for a college student, but the first class only cost me $15. They have a few different packages to choose from after the first class and new members do get one month of unlimited classes at a great price. I would definitely recommend taking a class and seeing how it is for yourself.

Be sure to show up in leggings and to invest in some sticky socks! To attend a class, you can download the Pure Barre app, sign up for any class, and pay for it all through the app. You could also go to their website or head to the studio itself to sign up. It's a good idea to read some of the tips and tricks they tell you before going. It'll help you understand the movements they're going to teach and the terms they'll use in class. I hope you decide to give Pure Barre a try. Be sure to come back and share your experience with me in the future!
