Friday Brunch
This past Friday my roommates and I decided to get brunch at this unique place downtown. It's called Penny Path and they sell amazing crepes! Everyone who lives here loves this little shop. I've been hearing about it for forever, so I was excited to finally try their crepes. When we got to the store, I was surprised to find an actual penny path throughout the store! How cool is that?
This shop only has a limited amount of space. At first we had to sit outside, but we quickly snagged three seats at the bar when another party left. There are only about 15 seats inside and three more tables outside. They were also very busy when we got there. To order, you tell them what you want at the register and then go find your seat. When you finish eating, you go back up to the register to pay. Another thing I loved about this store is that they use Square and iPads to check out. I love finding tech savvy restaurants and stores.
It was quite hard to decide which crepe to order because there were so many to choose from. They also had specialty coffees. After debating between a few different options, I settled on the lemon crepe for myself. My friend and I also decided to split a savory herb and cheese crepe. It took a while for them to get to our order because there were a lot of people ahead of us, but it was certainly worth the wait.
I really enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching them cook crepes while waiting. It was interesting to see them spread out the batter on the round cook top. Each crepe was flipped over after the first side was done. After they cooked a little more, they began adding the toppings. Before we knew it, they were handing us our first crepe. It happened to be the cheesy herb one. We dug in and I fell I love. The flavors in this crepe were out of this world. Delicious pesto and creamy cheese melted in my mouth with each bite. I really enjoyed this crepe. Next came my lemon one. I had watched the cook squeeze fresh lemons onto the batter. I couldn't wait to dig in. Sweet, tangy lemon juice and raspberry syrup adorned this perfectly made crepe. The extra side of whipped cream was the perfect addition. My first bite was heavenly. I savored each other bite after as my crepe slowly disappeared off my plate.
Penny Path is truly a hidden gem. I cannot wait to go back and try the Nutella crepe or the strawberry banana crepe. The coffee also looked pretty good. Some girls next to us ordered mochas and they looked absolutely delicious. I'll have to try one of their drinks next time we go. Definitely check out this spot if you're ever in High Point. I promise you won't be disappointed.
