Last Weekend
I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted for you guys! I've been busy with school and I didn't want to clog up the internet any more during the election season and all that nonsense. What a week it's been! Saturday I volunteered at an exciting wine tasting event called the Expo Vino. I got to monitor the wine pull and 50/50 raffle stations. I also got to sample some snacks and wine after the event was over. It was honestly so much fun! Also, I did a fun fall photoshoot with my Sigma sisters at this beautiful barn close to our campus. That's what the remainder of this post is going to be about.
On Sunday, we all got together and spent the afternoon running around taking pictures. Sometimes our chapter sets up events like this for us to enjoy. My roommate and I drove out there together. It was so peaceful on this side of town. We drove down some winding roads that were filled with farm fields and horse stables. It was quite a different view from the busy city I typically drive through every day.
As we drove up to the barn, I was amazed. It had bright red paint and a beautiful entry way with wooden trellises. There were fenced-off fields with horses running around and people working. The only sounds I heard were neighs and whistles from horses in the barn. We all set up for the group picture and camera shutters began to click. As the photoshoot continued on, many of us broke off into little groups to take our own photos. Some of us stood next to the red barn wall and others ran to the tractors in the back. The evening sun was shining perfectly on us.
Sisterhood is so important. These little events that we do really bring us together and get us excited about our organization. Sigma is something I treasure. Without Sigma, I wouldn't have the friendships I do now. I wouldn't have exciting sisterhood events to go to and I would be a lot lonelier here in college. Joining a sorority was a huge commitment, but it was the best one I ever made. This time of year I'm even more thankful for movie nights and holiday parties with my sisters. We work really hard to make our organization great. This photoshoot was a chance to just celebrate our friendships and our sisterhood. Little events like these remind me why I love Sigma. I'm so thankful that I went through recruitment and found my home away from home.
It's coming up on our recruitment season and I'm excited to see what our sisterhood looks like after bid day. So many girls will run home to us on that day. One of my favorite memories was watching each group come down the stairs and seeing individuals running to their chosen sorority. All of the organizations on our campus are so wonderful. It's fun to just be Greek. Each organization brings their own special personality and perspective to this campus. If you're a freshman or sophomore going through recruitment this year, remember to keep and open mind and to give every organization a chance. On bid day everyone gets to run home. If you stay open minded, you'll be sure to find your perfect sisterhood.
