Puppy Fever

On Friday, I went to pick up my beautiful mini dachshund. He's eight weeks old and weights just above four pounds right now. I've been waiting for this day for so long. I love all types of puppies, but dachshund puppies are the best ones out there. My family already owns two dachshunds, Max and Ellie, who are brother and sister. They are black and white dapples with long hair. My puppy, who's name is Remi, is actually Max's son. Remi is a cream and brown dapple. He is also long-haired as well. His mother was a creme dapple named Dixie.

Little Remi has a beautiful coat with tons of speckles all over. He has the cutest freckles right by his itty bitty nose. I spent two days snuggling him and watching him attack a few Christmas squeaky toys. I already see his cute hot dog body coming out too. He's getting longer, but his little legs are short and stumpy. Dachshunds have such an adorable shape. In my opinion, they are the perfect small dog breed. They are so lovable and cuddly. I already know Remi is going to be the perfect companion.

I'm also so excited to be a full-time dog mom. Remi is going to be so spoiled. I already bought him a cute little hat from Target because I just couldn't resist getting it. I can't wait till he's full grown so I can buy him all kinds of clothing and accessories. From sweaters to raincoats, he'll probably have it all. I'm sure that in the future he'll have his own extensive wardrobe. I know he'll also be treated to the best food and plenty of special treats in my house. And of course tons of belly rubbing and couch cuddling too.

Dogs bring so much joy to our lives. They just wiggle their way right into your heart. I've always had animals in my house for as long as I can remember. To me, a house feels empty without a dog at your feet or a cat on the couch. That's just the way I like to live. Stephan and I are very excited to have little Remi. He's our first pet and he's part of our little family now. I can't wait to come home to his tiny, wagging tail every day.
