The Bridal Society Experience
Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to become a certified wedding planner through The Bridal Society. I was even luckier to have gone with five other members of the event management club, where I'm on the executive board.
I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be a certified planner this early in my life. It's amazing to think that I'm ready and capable of starting my own business right now. A lot of people have asked me about the experience, so I thought I'd share my opinions with you here.
Laurie Hartwell is the CEO and Founder of The Bridal Society. She has over 23 years of wedding planning experience and an amazing portfolio full of glorious weddings. Listening to her speak was such an honor. Not only is this woman incredibly talented, funny and entertaining, but she is honest, kind and humble.
The Bridal Society experience was unlike anything I had imagined. I expected to sit at desk, take notes and leave feeling just as clueless as I did when I walked in. I was completely wrong. There was music and old wedding movies playing when we walked in. They had these beautiful books full of everything you'd ever need to know about being a planner. I walked away knowing so much and felt like an all-star.
Laurie is someone that exudes confidence. She was glowing as she spoke about her experiences and about her passion for planning weddings. She packed a lot of info into such a small amount of time and still managed to make it all interesting. She gave examples of things she had encountered and told funny stories about what she has dealt with.
I am glad that I took the time to do this conference because I feel empowered to take on the world and plan weddings. I didn't just learn about how to execute these events, but I learned a lot about who I am and I how I work. She began the first day with personality assessments and activities designed to help us understand who we are. This was her first lesson and it really helped me come away knowing how I communicate and the type of person I am.
The conference covered every single aspect of a wedding, from booking vendors to understanding dress styles. She made sure we all knew absolutely everything we needed in order to give potential clients the best experience for their special day.
This is such an important moment for us to be a part of. Weddings are so emotional and so special, and we are the ones who get to help put it all together and make sure nothing goes wrong. It takes a hard-working individual who is ready to listen to the needs of their clients and to deliver what they want and exceed their expectations. I am happy to say that I feel completely ready to tackle anyone's big day after this certification conference.
If you've been thinking about becoming a wedding planner or getting your certification, I highly suggest signing up immediately. Laurie Hartnell will whip you into shape in no time. She sure showed me how to be the best planner possible and to tackle everything that comes your way.
